The duo and most of the Panthers for that matter take upwards of 1,000 swings in the cages or practice fields a week. It's part of the reason why Masuk is averaging nearly eight runs as it takes aim at its first SWC league championship since 2008 at next week's tournament.
At the heart of Masuk's offensive prowess is Testani, a senior shortstop who'll walk on at UConn next year, and Milone, a sophomore center fielder and a prodigious power hitter. Testani is batting .373 with a whopping .814 slugging percentage, boosted by 14 extrabase hits, including five home runs to go along with 26 runs scored and 16 RBIs through Wednesday. Milone was hitting at a .391 clip with 23 runs scored, 15 RBIs and three home runs.
"They're both cage rats," Masuk coach said. "As a team, we take a ton of swings and these guys take a ton of swings on their own, after practice, after games. Who knows? (Milone) might be getting |
