The touch screen on my last thermostat failed and I purchased the 3M Filtrete 7 Day Programmable Thermostat (3M22) from Home Depot for about $40. Before I tell you about my experience with this thermostat, here are a couple of things you should know before buying:
1. There are many options out there. I suggest writing out a schedule to determine how much flexibility you need in your device. You'll see 3 main options for programmable thermostats: 5 2 days, 5 1 1 days and 7 days. 5 2 day units allow for two programs one for Monday through Friday and another for the weekend. 5 1 1 units allow for 3 programs one for Monday through Friday and two separate programs for Saturday and Sunday. A 7 day device allows you to have different programs for every day of the week.
